About Hubert Crijns Architects

Hubert Crijns Architects is a design studio based in Scheveningen, the Netherlands. Founded in 2005 by architect Hubert Crijns, for over twenty years he has worked alongside compagnon Floris Koch, with whom he shares a deeply held vision on aesthetics. Private homes, hospitality spaces, retail environments and workspaces: always designed as a whole, with building, interior, materials and atmosphere inseparable from one another.

Their philosophy is perfecting the imperfect. Things that are too perfect don't feel right. They leave room for the handmade and the slightly imperfect, because that is where a space starts to feel alive.

The studio works with materials that stay close to their origin. Wood, leather, glass, steel, wool, ceramics. Things that don't look new from the start and only improve with time. Every project is shaped by its context: the user, the location, the light, the rhythm of the day. Executed with the same attention throughout, from the structure of the building to the objects inside it.
